Montel Mobile Storage with LED Guard Technology
Montel, a global leader of high-density mobile storage shelving system solutions for office, institutional and industrial applications, is proud to officially announce the issuance of U.S. and Canadian patents for its innovative LED Guard Technology™ used in SafeAisle® powered mobile storage systems, SAFERAK® mobile racking systems, and RACK&ROLL 16P industrial compact shelving.
For those out of the loop, LED Guard Technology™ – or LGT – represents a major watershed moment in employee safety and shrinkage prevention for commercial and industrial storageused in day-to-day operations. With nearly a half century of mobile storage experience under its belt, Montel developed LGT to keep industries everywhere perpetually productive, cost-effective and employee-friendly. So, how does Montel's patented LED Guard Technology™ work and why do those features matter to modern businesses?
LGT in a Nutshell
Mobile shelving and racking reduces storage footprints thanks to its collapsible architecture. However, in industries like manufacturing and logistics where processes move at lightning speed, thoughtlessly closing a mobile storage unit could pose a risk to both goods and workers.
A world leader in high-density mobile storage, Montel has always been at the forefront of manual, mechanical-assist and automated technology designed to improve safety conditions for users. LGT, used in both SafeAisle®-equipped mobile shelving and SAFERAK® products, utilizes LED sensors to detect people and objects in open aisles. While aisles are in use or occupied, shelving or racking modules are locked in place, thereby protecting users from injury and stored materials from damage. Regardless of what you and your organizations stores – from laboratory chemicals to priceless artifacts to sporting goods – LGT ensures no avoidable harm comes to any of it should it fall from your shelves.
LGT is 100 percent passive. Users do not have to remember to locate and activate any safety devices when interacting with the mobile shelving or racking system. Even with fully loaded shelves, LGT will protect users and objects left in the aisle without human intervention.
Where users stand in an open aisle will not impact the effectiveness of LGT. When Montel customers invest in powered mobile shelving or racking systems supported by LGT, they're putting their money into complete aisle coverage for consummate protection. No matter where a user are located in the aisle, no matter where in the aisle a product falls, no matter if a pallet is left in the aisle, the units will not close without complete clearance. With full coverage from LED sensors, LGT protects users and objects every step of the way.
We've all experienced moments in our lives where human error has stopped technology from working as intended. It happens, and at those times, there's no one to blame but yourself. But who's to blame when safety technology accidentally gets turned off? Users? Or the engineers who added an off switch?
LGT used in Montel products cannot be deactivated, overwritten or bypassed. No sequence of button mashing or reconfiguration will shut it down. LGT places mobile shelving installations in a constant state of vigilance.
SafeAisle® or SAFERAK® installations equipped with LGT automatically reset as soon as a user or forklift operator exits an aisle. Users waste no time manually resetting an aisle after each use. Operators won't have to step out of their forklifts to reset the system.
