Montel, a global leader of high-density mobile storage shelving system solutions for office, institutional and industrial applications, is pleased to announce that the Pittsburgh Penguins selected Montel’s custom-designed mobile storage solution at the new CONSOL Energy Center in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.

In conjunction with Montel’s local Authorized Distributor, Stuart Design Group, this storage solution contract was for the supply and installation of Montel’s new SafeAisle™ high-density powered mobile storage system, Mobilex® high-density mechanical mobile storage system, and SmartShelfTM 4-Post hybrid shelving system.

“Montel is very pleased that the Pittsburgh Penguins entrust our innovative mobile storage solution for their hockey equipment at the new CONSOL Energy Center,” mentioned Joey P. Boudreau, Marketing Director at Montel. “For the Penguins’s diversified storage needs, we proposed cost-effective state-of-the-art product features offering flexibility, functionality and sturdiness.” Principal at Stuart Design Group, Montel’s local Authorized Distributor, Andrew L. Stuart stated: “It is a real honor for Stuart Design Group to have worked with the Penguins and Montel on this storage solution contract. From the initial design & planning process with the Penguins’s Equipment Team, to the complete product installation, it was very rewarding for our organization to participate in a custom mobile storage solution optimizing room space with innovative products.”

For the Equipment room, the Montel Group supplied its new user-friendly SafeAisleTM powered mobile system. With state-of-the-art options permitting reconfigurations and future upgrades, SafeAisle™ provides flexibility to select innovative design and security features for maximum productivity and adaptability. To optimize space utilization, the Penguins chose Montel’s exclusive and patented PowerTrack™ ground embedded wiring. With refined aesthetic and inherent design flexibility, SafeAisleTMoffers enhanced superior standards in safety, reliability, user-friendliness, and productivity. Mounted on the powered mobile carriages, SmartShelf™ allowed the needed versatility and sturdiness to house and organize the hockey equipment and athletic gear. In the Laundry room, Mobilex® mechanical storage system with SmartShelf™ offered the performance solution required for the specific storage needs.

Construction of the CONSOL Energy Center was completed on August 1, 2010, and opened in time for the 2010-2011 NHL season. Designed by Populus, formerly HOK Sport, the ICON Venue group oversaw the building of the arena. The 735,000 square-foot CONSOL Energy Center features a four-sided scoreboard, 66 suites, 32 loge boxes, and a view of the famous Golden Triangle visible from the upper concourse. The arena will host hockey games, basketball games, concerts and other events.

Achieving LEED Gold certification, CONSOL Energy Center became the first NHL arena to reach that standard of sustainability. “Pursuing environmental sustainable development throughout Montel, we are very proud to be associated with this significant achievement by the Pittsburgh Penguins and the Sports & Exhibition Authority. Working closely to support the U.S. Green Building Council’s LEED program, Montel strives to assist projects in earning a LEED rating with high-density mobile storage systems,” says Boudreau in closing.
