Gatineau, QC, Canada
Library and Archives of Canada needed to design and build a new state-of-the-art facility that would accommodate Canada’s shared documentary comprising of materials in all media from all parts of the country, as well as records and publications of Canadian interest from outside the country.
To benefit the documentary heritage of Canada, officials from Library and Archives of Canada wanted to optimize the new facility’s records storage vaults space utilization.
After analyzing the specialized vaults archive storage space needs for the National Archives Gatineau Preservation Centre, Montel proposed custom-designed mobile shelving systems for a total of 48 records storage vaults, along with pull-out screens.
The following custom-designed solution was provided:
- Mechanical Mobilex® high-density mobile storage systems designed to accommodate Montel’s QuadraVista 4-Post shelving system;
- QuadraVista 4-Post shelving system for multi-functional storage specifications, and 4D Wide Span;
- Efficient storage approach for textural record boxes, oversize paper records, black-and-white motion picture film cans and colour and black-and-white film videos;
- Floor mounted pull-out screens for prints and paintings.
