Universidad Alberta Museos de almacenamiento compacto
Montel, a global leader of high-density mobile storage shelving system solutions for office, institutional and industrial applications, is pleased to announce the completion of the powered compact storage system upgrade for the University of Alberta Museums’ Clothing and Textile Collection in Edmonton, Alberta.
In the late ‘90s, the University of Alberta’s Department of Human Ecology had selected Montel to provide a custom-design powered compact storage system for the safety and conservation of their unique clothing and textiles collection. Nearly 15 years later, Montel recently furnished, delivered and installed new electronic components to upgrade the original installed powered mobile storage system. More specifically, Montel supplied to the University of Alberta Museums new control boards with latest generation of software and new SafeAisle® movement controls for each mobile carriage.
“Montel is very pleased to have recently completed a powered storage system upgrade for the University of Alberta Museums,” said Yves Bélanger, National Sales Manager – Canada at Montel.” “Not only does this upgrade allow the University of Alberta Museums’ to take advantage of Montel’s latest innovative powered technology, the new generation of software allows the compact storage system to be revived and rejuvenated.”
The University of Alberta Museums is a distributed network of 29 diverse museum collections located in faculties and departments across the University of Alberta where they are used daily in teaching, research and community outreach programs. The Department of Human Ecology is home to the University of Alberta Museums' Clothing and Textiles Collection. This unique collection houses more than 23,000 clothing and textile-related artifacts with local, national, and international significance. Founded in 1972, the Collection includes everyday wear and designer clothes for men, women and children from different continents and spanning over 350 years of history. In addition to examples of textiles from different continents, artifacts that depict clothing and relate to the production and embellishment of cloth are also part of our holdings.
“As a recognized innovator for safe and secure museum collection-care storage systems, this powered upgrade ensures that the lifespan of the University of Alberta Museums’ compact storage system is as long as possible”, mentioned Joey P. Boudreau, Marketing Director at Montel. “Like the products we manufacture, we have a history of inherent product sustainability.
