Montel, a global leader of high-density mobile storage shelving system solutions, is pleased to announce that it has successfully completed the storage conservation & preservation renovation project for the Blanton Museum of Art at The University of Texas at Austin in Austin, Texas.

In conjunction with LDS Group USA, the exclusive Authorized Montel Distributor serving Texas and Oklahoma, this custom-design museum storage contract was for the supply and installation of Montel’s floor-mounted pull-out storage panel system, Mobilex® high-density mechanical mobile storage system, and 4D wide span racking.

“Montel is very pleased to have participated in this reputable collection storage & preservation renovation project at the Blanton Museum of Art,” said Joey P. Boudreau, Marketing Director at Montel. “Jointly working with LDS Group USA, it is an honour to have successfully delivered these specialized museum storage products to create a safe and protective environment to ensure the preservation and the value of the museum’s framed artwork and oversized artifact collections.”

For the paintings & framed artwork collections, the Montel Group proposed its floor-mounted pull-out storage panels. For this large area permanent application, these double-sided panels permit not only the individual storage of paintings, but ensure complete protection and free access to them. Double-sided metallic mesh painting screens maximizes hanging surfaces and provides necessary ventilation.

To optimize the storage footprint, the Montel Group furnished its mechanical mobile storage system offering the latest design to house the oversized and heavy collections. Engineered for the museum market, Montel’s 4D wide span shelving, sustaining heavier loads and accommodating objects of varying heights, was supplied for the maximum preservation and security of the museum’s collections.

The Blanton Museum of Art at The University of Texas at Austin is one of the foremost university art museums in the country, and has the largest and most comprehensive collection of art in Central Texas. The Blanton's permanent collection of more than 17,000 works is recognized for its European paintings, an encyclopedic collection of prints and drawings, and modern and contemporary American and Latin American art. The Blanton is considered one of the university's many Gems along with The Harry Ransom Center, the Briscoe Center for American History, The University of Texas Press, UT Libraries, the Graduate School, and the Michener Center for Writers.
