Montel, a global leader of high-density mobile storage shelving system solutions for office, institutional and industrial applications, is pleased to announce that it has been awarded a contract by the Department of Public Works and Government Services Canada (PWGSC) for the supply, delivery and installation of two dual access high-density powered mobile storage systems for Human Resources and Skills Development Canada (HRSDC) in Edmonton, AB.

The contract involves the supply of Montel’s SafeAisle high-density powered mobile storage system and SmartShelf 4-post hybrid shelving units, equipped with system mounted aisle lights consisting of a light mount and a light fixture. Designed and manufactured to abide by the HRSDC - Mobile Shelving Protection Design Requirements, all mobile system units comply with all HRSDC regulations for storage, security, fire code and health and safety.

Programmed to automatically be activated as soon as carriage movement begins, lights shall be delayed to the "on" position when aisle is fully opened and carriage movement stops. After a specified period of inactivity (between 5 seconds and 18 hours), the lights will turn off, they must have the ability to be activated manually in an open aisle and deactivated manually for an open aisle. The overhead aisle lighting controls and circuits will be independent from the base building light circuits.

“We are very proud of being awarded this SafeAisle powered mobile shelving contract,” said Yves Bélanger, Canadian National Sales Manager at Montel. “Understanding the hazardous factors involving mobile shelving units, Montel was extremely pleased to recently develop and introduce SafeAisle, our latest and innovative powered mobile storage system using our complete aisle-detection LED Guard Technology. Delighted with this new opportunity to apply our recognized technology and expertise in the powered mobile storage sector, we look forward in working with Human Resources and Skills Development Canada to ensure that the health and safety of the service staff using or working in proximity to the mobile storage units is protected.”

The 2 new SafeAisle shelving systems will include several important safety features. More specifically, LED Guard Technology (LGT) safety system covering the whole aisle surface shall be present in each aisle. The safety system shall be provided to prevent any carriage movement if the system detects users or objects anywhere in the open aisle, providing complete aisle-detection. All safety controls UL listed and CSA certified, the safety system shall be totally passive requiring no conscious effort to activate the safety system.
